Interest Groups

Interest Groups are the heart of the ESGV Branch. Interest Groups are always delighted to have new participants, whether they are members new to ESGV Branch or ongoing members interested in pursuing a new hobby.  Schedule of Meetings

Play Reading Group

The group subscribes to a series of plays, most of which are by well-known modern playwrights, and meets every month to read one of the plays. We don’t use costumes or props; we simply take turns reading the roles. We enjoy learning more about the plays, and we have fun reading the plays we like and bashing the ones we don’t like! If you’ve always wanted to participate in “theater,” Play reading is an easy way to start.

Needlework Group

In this group, members who knit, crochet, quilt, do needlepoint or any other yarn or fabric handwork meet monthly to pursue individual projects and give one another help and commentary. Of course, the pleasure of chatting while working is the real attraction of this group.

Bridge

Bridge players have a choice of four different groups to join. All groups welcome players at any skill level; Beginning Bridge is not just for beginners, and Bridge I, II and III do not require a particular level of skill. All groups meet in the daytime on various days. Members usually select a group that meets at a time that is convenient.

Book Group

Our two Daytime Books groups and our Evening Books members share a love of reading by discussing interesting books. In the fall each group plans a year’s program with members voting on choices. We also have a Mystery Books group that meets five times a year. Books are selected for their appeal and possibilities for discussion.

Bunco Group

On a lighter note, Bunco meets once a month just to roll the dice and have fun. Bunco is a game that doesn’t require skill, but it does command the player’s attention and so it’s a refreshing way to forget the cares of the day. Bunco players have a choice of evening or afternoon groups.
